"Affiches moniteur", 19th. September 2003 (about «Le bestiaire inachevé»)

"Written in a wide and noble style, this metaphorical route is run through with an exquisite apetite and curiosity (...). When we read Sérgio Luís de Carvalho, we are immerged in a rich ambience and in the habits of distante era, but where the human nature is always present."

"Le Fígaro Litteraire", 25th. September 2003 (about «Le bestiaire inachevé»)

"Here Sérgio Luís de Carvalho does a strong exercise, from the most intimate writing to the most brutal description, from the most lirical melancholia to the detailed chronicle of an era (...). 'Le Bestiaire inachevé' is a great historic novel."

-Gérard de Cortanze

Newspaper « Le temoignage chretien » October 2003 (about «Le bestiaire inachevé»)

"It is true that this story, a real story, occurs in 1348, the year of the great black plague that ravaged Europe. Their last thoughts, however, remain astonishingly modern."

-Arnaud de Montjoye

Review "Lire", November 2003 about «Le Bestiaire inachevé»)

"In a caotical background Sérgio Luís de Carvalho wrote a novel of a rare human truth. From these strong pages all the gravity behind the beauty of a language that could be used in prayers and psalms. A small masterpiece of a superbe austerity."

-Daniel Bermond

Magazine « Europe», January 2004, (about «Le bestiaire inachevé»)

"La Quinzaine Littéraire », January 2004 (about «Le bestiaire inachevé»)

"Sérgio Luís de Carvalho's novel can be framed in what Valéry calls 'exquisite category'. His poetic writing moves the pieces and starts the game. (...) 'Le Bestiaire Inachevé' is one of the purest love chants that we have ever heard, one of the closest to the surrealistic ideal of 'amour fou'."

-Maurice Mourier

"Le Monde", July 2004 (about «Le bestiaire inachevé»)

"This book is covered with a very delicate light, a very sad light, the light of the wife's memory, from the first date 'till her death, twenty years later. She inspires the author with lancinating pages, served in a delicious translation. Definately, a superb love story left to us."

-Jean Soublin

"Conseil General de L'Essonne", January 2005

"Everything in this novel works in a single voice: the simplicity, the precision, the beauty of a writing that leads us to the human modesty, to its integrity, to the purety of its soul. (...) In spite of the dark colours of the theme, this novel appears white to our eyes; the white of purety, of simplicity, of the consciousness of a fullfiled duty... Above all a novel that we can't miss."

Magazine "La Gazette Nord-Pas de Calais", 6th November 2003 (About ‘Le bestiaire inachevé’)

"Under a screen of war and violence, the author gives us an intimistic and troubling work. Between shadow and light, fear and serenity in face of the inevitable, the soul of the [main character] vibrates and so does the soul of the reader."
